FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY OF THE COURT OF JUSTICE (1952-2002)
(Press accreditation by application to the Press and Information Division)
Speeches will be given by Mr Pat COX, President of the European Parliament, Ms Lene ESPERSEN,
Danish Minister for Justice and President of the Council, Mr Romano PRODI, President of the
European Commission, and Mr Ludwig ADAMOVICH, President of the Austrian Constitutional
Court, in the presence of Their Royal Highnesses The Grand-Duke and Grand-Duchess of
Luxembourg, the President and Members of the Court of Justice and of the Court of First Instance,
former Members of the Courts and senior judges of the Member States, of international courts and of
the candidate countries and certain other countries.
A press room will be made available for television, radio and press crews. An official broadcast will
be transmitted by EBS (Europe by Satellite) with interpretation into 11 languages and facilities for
connection to the EBS image distribution system. A second press room equipped with telephones and
modems for personal computers will also be made available.
Photography will be permitted during the arrival of guests at the entrance to the Court of Justice and
prior to the formal sitting in the main court room. Photography will also be permitted after the sitting
in the public area of the Court.
Accreditation must be obtained from the Press and Information Division of the Court of Justice by
completing a copy of the questionnaire annexed to this notice and returning it to the Press and
Information Division by no later than midday, Wednesday 27 November

Audio-visual
. a short film of approximately 28 minutes' duration, with shotlist (time-coding and titles in
English and French) created from archived images of the Court. The film reviews the
Court's activities from its inception at the Villa Vauban in 1952 to the present day,
illustrating its development and some of the milestones along the way. Most of the images
are without sound, some have an original soundtrack. Written information is annexed to
the images file
. two other short films of approximately five minutes' duration illustrating two landmark
cases: Cassis de Dijon (20/02/79) et Bosman (15/12/95)
These films will be broadcast over Europe by Satellite, the European Union's television news agency,
from Monday 18 November 2002. The Europe by Satellite pages on the EUROPA website
(http://europa.eu.int/comm/ebs) provide useful information on the broadcasts.
